GMA Coronavirus Support: Helping a beauty therapist and her single income family
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Angel Rands thanks to Good Morning Angels and LottoStar will be rewarded to a breadwinner.
BACKGROUND: Chantal Carr-Williams is a mother of two daughters, wife, and breadwinner for her family. She runs her beauty therapy salon from home and makes all her clients feel special and loved. One of them, Christine, wrote to Good Morning Angels nominating Chantal for assistance as she is not able to work during the lockdown - which means no income. Chantal’s husband has been unemployed for the past two years. Life has been a financial battle, but Chantal always sees the positive. She’s been providing a weekend and holiday home for twin-sisters from a local children’s home - even while she and her family have been under financial strain.
REQUEST FOR: Chantal Carr-Williams from Pretoria
REQUEST FROM: Christine Gouws
ANGEL: Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels in partnership with LottoStar
SPONSORING: We’ve sent R10,000 in #AngelRands to Chantel to help her sustain and support her family during and after lockdown
ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Chantal is a beauty therapist who operates her business from home. Her husband has been without a job for the past 2 years with no income. She supports her family financially, but now due to COVID-19 she cannot get an income. Family members have been helping with their house bond and her children's school fees, but that is also drying up. She also supports two additional girls who are in an orphanage - and fetches them over weekends and school holidays to spend time with her family. Now due to COVID-19 she cannot do that, but she still provides emotional support to them in this time. She is a truly caring, giving person even if she herself has little or nothing.
Their car has been giving them problems for the past 2 years, but they don’t have the funds to fix the car. Chantal is the most selfless person I know - she will never admit that she needs anything, and she will always be the first to help others.
Regards,
Christine
