GMA Extra: Support CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA this February 15th

The 15th of February 2017 is International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD). On this day people are urged to wear blue with an ICCD badge or heart pin. Blue pants, blue shirts, blue suits, blue dresses, blue ribbons, blue hearts, anything blue everywhere. It will all help in the effort to spread the message.
GMA EXTRA 6 FEBRUARY 2017 (CHOC INTERN CANCER DAY)
BACKGROUND: CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA has been "Keeping more than hope alive” for children and families affected by cancer since 1979. CHOC offers support to parents of children with cancer, by parents of children with cancer. The 15th of February 2017 is International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD). On this day people are urged to wear blue with an ICCD badge or heart pin. Blue pants, blue shirts, blue suits, blue dresses, blue ribbons, blue hearts, anything blue everywhere. It will all help in the effort to spread the message. In addition to wearing blue, one can also buy a loved one a delicious chocolate or a “have a heart for children with cancer badge” or heart pin.

All proceeds will go towards funding CHOC SA’s work. They have a head office in Johannesburg, six regional offices, two branches, and 13 accommodation facilities close to treatment centers. With occupancy steadily increasing, the budget for maintenance and running costs of the accommodation facilities in 2015 amount, to R7,132 million, with each facility costing over half a million for the total capacity of 66 030 bed nights per annum.
CHOC does not receive funding from government but rely heavily on donations from caring corporates, individuals and parents of children with cancer. Funds raised are used to provide all-encompassing support, from direct practical help to the children and their families and those involved in the treatment to necessary equipment.
