Good Morning Angels: Devastating News for a 3-year-old
Updated | By The Complimentary Breakfast
Imagine being in your final days of expecting twins ... and then hearing devastating news about their older sister. Ilona and Darius, parents to Imke, found out that their 3-year-old was to receive her first round of chemo for a cancer growth on her adrenal gland this week. Her parents heard the news at the end of January - less than three weeks before her sisters were born.
GOOD MORNING ANGELS 24 FEBRUARY 2016 (IMKE/POSITIVE)
Imagine being in your final days of expecting twins ... and then hearing devastating news about their older sister ...
REQUEST FROM: Yolanda Groenewald
REQUEST FOR: 2-year old Imke Geldenhuys and her parents Darius and Ilona
ANGEL: Jorina Kruger on behalf of "1 Thing per Day to Build South Africa"
SPONSORING: Jorina is part of a group of friends, who decided they wanted to make a difference. They all collected funds and put it together, with the only request that they would like to help a child. The group managed to raise R25 000,00 which they will donate to Darius and Ilona, to help alleviate the financial burden that has come along with their focus to help Imke back to health, whilst caring for her baby twin sisters.
BACKGROUND: Imke Geldenhuys is tuning 3-years old in April. By then, she will be the big sister to twin baby-sisters! However, she will have to wait a while before she can play with them and help her mommy, Ilona and Daddy Darius care for them. Little Imke is currently in Unitas hospital - the very same hospital where her sisters were born last week. Her sisters and parents are there too - because Imke is receiving her first round of chemo for a cancer growth on her adrenal gland this week. Her parents heard the news at the end of January - less than three weeks before her sisters were born. The family has a medical aid, but they have to do co-payments and cover other many other costs. They are from Tzaneen and will have to make many more trips to Centurion over the next few months, while Imke is receiving her treatment. They also have to create a germ-free environment for Imke at home - in between chemo treatments - as her immune system would be.
Severely weakened by the aggressive treatment. Through all this, her parents are by her side and have never lost hope - rather believing in the joy of her recovery ...
ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Jacaranda Good Morning Angels:
I've a request and any help would mean the world to us as a family. My Brother and Sister in law have, for the last two weeks, been 'living" at Unitas Hospital - for further tests and Chemo Therapy for their little daughter, Imke. She is turning (3) in April. She was Diagnosed with (Neroblastoma Cancer) AND Mommy is 35 weeks pregnant with her twin sisters. Due to all this stress the twins are being monitored and might need to arrive sooner than expected, with c-section.
We are already busy planning a 'Ride, Cycle event in Tzaneen (their Hometown) on the 27th February. Also a fun day maybe end of March to raise funds for them.
We need all the help and support we can get for this precious family.
You are welcome to contact me.
Regards and thank you,
Yolanda Groenewald
