Good Morning Angels: A Gauteng Cinderella story for Matric pupils
Updated | By Lee-Roy Wright
Next to one's wedding, we can't think of a bigger day than your Matric farewell?
GOOD MORNING ANGELS 6 SEPTEMBER 2017 (MATRIC DANCE/HSC/PART 1)
A Gauteng Cinderella story: Four Matric girls get to go to the dance like princesses.
BACKGROUND:
It’s an event every girl dreams of, to be the 'Belle' of the ball at the Matric farewell dance. Known as one of the biggest moments of your school calendar, it's a day that is truly special.
For many South African girls, though, the reality is that their families cannot afford to make this dream come true. When food and a roof over your head is a tough challenge, the princess dream has to wait.
A few angels have written to Good Morning Angels about a few Matric girls in their lives, who need a little sparkle amid the realities of life.
We summoned our 'angels' to grant a wish or two...
ANGEL 1: Mercia van der Walt, House of Superior Clothing in Lynnwood
SPONSORING: Mercia and her team will dress all four girls, from head to toe, from her wide collection of ball gowns, accessories and shoes, for the Matric dance.
ANGEL 2: Dylan van der Berg, Leo Haese, Centurion
SPONSORING: Each girl will be picked up at home and driven to their matric dances in funky Mini.
ANGEL 3: #JacaBreakfast's Tumi Morake
SPONSORING: Tumi will sort out their hair and make-up for all four girls! Thank you, Tumi, you are all heart!
ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Pastor Ivy Tladi from the Tabernacle of Peace in Munsieville, Krugersdorp nominated girls from her congregation for the Good Morning Angels Matric dance magic.
Pastor Ivy asked them to meet the Good Morning Angels team at the church. They had absolutely no idea what they were about to hear.
1. Alice Mpho Mokawane
She is from a family of ten children with a widowed mother. Their father died when they were all young. The mother is unemployed and staying in an RDP house, which does not belong to them. There is a real need in this family.
2. Jabulile Malindi
In her family they are only two siblings and she is the oldest. They stay in one-roomed house with an unemployed mother, sometimes if the church cannot provide food they can sleep without anything to eat.
3. Paballo Mosia
She is the first-born child of Mr and Mrs Mosia. They stay in a shack in the back yard of one of our members in our church. Dianne your help will be highly appreciated.
4. Nadine Venter
Nadine is the daughter of Prof Deon and Dr Liza. Her parents were both pastors. Last year, her dad, Deon, died after an illness from a heart attack. Her mom Liza is also struggling with her health - she suffered lung and heart failure and is diabetic. She cannot work. Deon’s death was the end of their congregation and income. Nadine and her mom now lives in a garden flat at her brother’s house and he takes care of them as well as he can.
We shared the news with the girls and they were over the moon!
Two of our incredible matric pupils have already had their fairytale matric dance and we captured all the moments. They looked amazing!
ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Julle kan my kontak vir enige verdere inligting.
Baie dankie,
Annamarie Visser
We cannot wait to see them all dressed up and looking amazing for their big Matric dance!
