Good Morning Angels: Helping 12-year old Ntando see his future clearly again
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Ntando wants to become a pilot and he’s an avid Mamelodi Sundowns fan.
GOOD MORNING ANGELS 11 APRIL 2018 (NHANDO)
BACKGROUND: Ntando Ndimande is 12-years old and in his final year of primary school. He is enthusiastic about his future and going to high school next year.
Ntando wants to become a pilot and he’s an avid Mamelodi Sundowns fan - even though he lives in Southern Johannesburg.
His mom, Prudence is a single parent doing the best she can to make sure he gets the best possible education and chance to have a bright future. However, earlier this year, his teachers noticed a problem with Ntando’s eye.
It turned out that scar tissue had formed on his eye from an injury when he was younger and there is a real danger that he could go blind in his eye. This would almost certainly mean an end to his dream of becoming a pilot.
The only hope to save Ntando’s eye, is a cornea transplant, which can be done at the Chris Hani Baragwanath State Hospital’s St. John Eye Clinic. Prudence does not have a medical aid and even though this is a state hospital, the family needs to pay R20 000 for the transplant.
They simply do not have the money. The school has been able to raise R5000 to help - but they still need R15 000.
Time to save Ntando’s eye, is running out.

Dear Jacaranda Angels,
We would like to place a wish on behalf of one of our pupils, Ntando Ndimande.
Ntando is a Grade 7 pupil at Tambotie Preparatory school. Ntando has scar tissue on his left cornea, as a result of an injury in his early life.
We have noticed a growth on Ntando’s eye in February on which we informed his mom of the observation. She had already booked an appointment with the eye hospital and he recently attended the appointment. It was confirmed that he is in need of an urgent corneal transplant to save his sight.
Our school can manage to donate R 5000 to help cover the R20 000 required to have the operation done at the St John’s Eye Hospital.
His mom is a single parent with no medical aid. Without this operation this young boy will go permanently blind.
Our wish for Ntando is to have this operation to assist him to keep the sight in his eye. Therefor we are turning to the Jacaranda Good Morning Angles to assist us to assist this family.
Your kind consideration will be highly appreciated.
Mr. J. van Deventer
