Good Morning Angels: Helping a brave 34-year-old mom fight brain cancer
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Debt is weighing heavily on the family and that’s why she wrote to Good Morning Angels. LottoStar steps in... with Love.
BACKGROUND: Esmeralda Kruger, 34, from Polokwane describes herself as blessed and lucky. She’s happily married to Stefan and the proud mother of ten-year-old Hanno and 13-year-old Mikaela. She has a job she loves and is very grateful that she’s able to go to work every day. She chooses to focus on all the love and blessings in her life, while she bravely fights a daily cancer battle.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, at the tender age of 30. After aggressive chemo and a mastectomy, Esmeralda was in remission. However, late last year, the cancer was back - this time in her brain and right lung. Esmeralda regards herself as fortunate to still be able to work and live a mostly normal life during treatment, although the brain cancer affects her balance and eye sight. She does not have medical aid and receives treatment from a State Hospital, but because she’s employed, she has to make co-payments, which have amounted to R27,000. This debt, which the family cannot pay, is weighing heavily on her and that’s why she wrote to Good Morning Angels.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Good Morning,
My name is Esmeralda Kruger. I am 34 and stay in Polokwane. Currently working as an administration clerk at DR IF Rededelinghuys, Maxillo, Facial and Dental Surgeon. It’s with a desperate heart that I am pleading for help. I was diagnosed with HER2 triple negative breast cancer in 2016, I had a mastectomy of my right breast followed by chemo and radiation. I was in remission for 2 years. The cancer came back without any warning and metatised to the brain and right lung.
I've had 10 full brain radiations and got chemo again. Unfortunately, the cancer is very aggressive and I was placed back on Xelofda chemo pills again. I’m am blessed to be working, but I have a massive state facility bill to pay which I don’t have funds for. This account is standing on R27 000.00. My wonderful family is very supportive but we do need help, I do believe everyone is overwhelmed and tired. We really need help. I am more than willing to send supporting document to give evidence of this account.
Hope to hear from you.
Regards
Esmeralda Kruger
