Good Morning Angels: Lloyd Cele lends a helping hand with the help of the Jacaranda FM Spar Carols by Candlelight
Jacaranda FM’s Carols by Candlelight is an annual event, where the Jacaranda FM community comes together in Pretoria and Johannesburg, to get into the festive spirit. This year over R70, 000 was raised and with the help of musician, Lloyd Cele we brought love and light to the Roodepoort Sports Club.

ANGEL: Lloyd Cele on behalf of the musicians, artists and listeners who supported the 2016 Jacaranda FM’s Carols by Candle Light with Spar.
SPONSORING: All the money raised at Carols by Candlelight 2016 in Pretoria and Johannesburg, through the sale of song-sheets and candles, will be donated to the Roodepoort Sports Club, to replace essential equipment to keep the club going in order to serve the community, that totals more than R70 000,00!
BACKGROUND: Jacaranda FM’s Carols by Candlelight is an annual event, where the Jacaranda FM community comes together in Pretoria and Johannesburg, to get into the festive spirit. Various of artists such as Lloyd Cele, Kurt Darren, Elvis Blue, Charlize Berg, Chianosky, Kahn (The Parlotones), Ross (Primecircle), Richard Stirton, Swing City and the Soweto Gospel Choir performed popular Christmas carols and Jacaranda FM families sing along. Entry is a new toy to bring festive joy to needy children. People are also asked to buy song-sheets and candles to help Good Morning Angels. This year, over R70 000 was raised by the Jacaranda FM community, that will be donated to a community initiative in Roodepoort.
The Roodepoort Sports Club, under its current ownership, has become the center of the local community. Different groups are encouraged to use the facility for sports and recreation, while a daycare center at the facility looks after over 80 children. The local soccer club and mini-cricket as well as senior cricket teams use the grounds to train and host tournaments for young sports enthusiasts, while a soup kitchen on Wednesday’s provide meals for needy especially elderly residents. Other residents use the facility as a safe place to keep fit, no one is unwelcome.
The club has however lost all its equipment to tend the grounds as well as in the kitchen and because most of the facilities and services are provided free of charge to the community, funds to replace it are not available. Several members of the community have asked for help to replace the essential equipment to keep the grounds going for the benefit of all who live around it.
