Good Morning Angels: A mother & fathers wish to fulfil their daughter, Zanerique's bucket list

SPONSORING: The Round Table has an annual fundraising concert to help assist people in need. They will donate R25 000,00 towards Zanerique’s monthly medical needs as well as her family's household expenses. The Round Table will also help Zanerique and her parents fulfil two wishes on her bucket-list: to play with lion cubs and to visit Gold Reef City.

BACKGROUND: Zanerique Toerien turns 7 on the 15th of this month. Her wish is to play with lion cubs and to visit Gold Reef City. She would like to invite her friends and teacher. Zanerique’s parents, André and Tersia want to make this happen for her. This may be the last birthday they will celebrate with her. The reality they have to face is that little Zanerique has a terminal cancer tumour in her brain and her doctor at the Johannesburg General Hospital has informed her parents that there is no more they can do. André has had to resign from work, as she needs him by her side. Terisa is also not working and both parents have committed their time their daughter, to spend every possible waking moment with her. This means, they have no income. There are the regular monthly expenses, as well as Zanerique’s medication of R2000,00 per month. Most of all, they want to make the next few months extra special for Zanerique and make all her wishes come true.

Please help my angel.

Good day, my name is Andre Strydom.        

I don’t know how to start, where to start or what to do as this is any parent’s nightmare and disaster that hits you with no warning.

Please read this and pass it on to any person that you think or know that can help my little angel; I’m going on my knees begging with tears in my eyes with a broken heart. My only daughter and everything in my life Zanerique Toerien, 6 years of age has been diagnosed with a highly malignant brain tumour  Brainstem Glioma on the 13 July 2016 at JHB Hospital. On the 17 July 2016 they had to do an emergency operation to put a shunt from the brain to the stomach as the tumour was pressing against the brain causing huge pain and the water around the brain couldn’t circulate.

Zanerique gets treated at JHB Hospital by Prof. Janet Poole. She also broke the news to me that the tumour Zanerique has got can’t be operated on as it’s to dangerous and all that can be done is to go for 10 sessions of radiations that will shrink the tumour a bit.

But because they can’t remove or operate and Zanerique has got a fast growing tumour  she gave me the heart breaking news that my angel will only be with us for another +- 6 months.

Anyone that knows Zanerique will tell you that she’s the friendliest, most adorable, joyful, playful, helpful, caring, sharing and loving hyper active child you can and will get to know. Just out of the blue, this news … and all this is really braking me down and as it will break any loving and caring parent.

Last week I had to resign from my work as I have been off too much and they have taken back my company car. 

I have to be at hospital every day for radiation  - she doesn’t want anyone else near her. Everything is so much and I would like to spend as much time as possible with my angel, but would love to make a few of her dreams and things she wants to do come true in the time we’ve got together.

Because of everything that has happened now, things are very-very bad financially in and out of the house. I’m asking on my knees and begging with tears if anyone can please help and assist me to make my daughters' dreams come true.

She wants to  ride on a white horse and play with lion cubs. Then something I would like to do to surprise Zanerique is to have a special day at Gold Reef City and invite her class mates and teacher for her birthday 15 September when she will turn 7. 

As a Father, I would really really like to make my baby’s dreams come true, and I think as a parent or any person that has someone special that they love would do the same. I’m asking you out of my heart to please help me. I will also create a Facebook page for Zanerique where any and everyone can follow us through this journey in the next few months, in the hope that I can make it happen, as time is not on our side.

BUT I ALSO ASK PLEASE IF YOU CAN PRAY WITH ME, THAT GOD CAN PLEASE BE WITH MY ANGEL AND HELP HER THROUGH THIS SICKNESS, AS ALL IS IN OUR HEAVENLY FATHER’S HANDS. PLEASE FATHER

Please I’m asking all parents to always be on the look out for the small things and symptoms, headaches, always tired, waking up unusual hours, off balance, speech, eye problems and this is on the increase with kids, specially age 5 – 10 years.

To my baby, darling, angel, boo, love. 

And this I have tried to perfect every second we have been together. 

And how can I ever thank my Lord for every second we together 

and my Lord knows how much I love you and everything I did, what I did, what I have stood up for, 

what I have fought for, was for our right to be together as Father and Daughter, 

to love and care every second we together. 

And you showed me, Daddy it was all worth it.

 You are my life, my sun and moon; you’re all I’ve got left in life my angel.
