GOOD MORNING ANGELS 30 MARCH 2016 (LEONARDO/ROUND TABLE)
8-year old Leonardo desperately wants to play rugby, but there is the problem with his leg ...
REQUEST FROM: Kobus Klopper from Mokopane (Round Table)
REQUEST FOR: 8-year old Leonardo du Toit
ANGEL: Christo Bezuidenhout, Round Table
SPONSORING: The Round Table will donate the balance of funds needed for Leonardo's brand new "Blou Bul" prosthetic leg to the value of R23 000,00
BACKGROUND: Leonard du Toit is in Grade 1. Like most of his friends, Leo loves sports. He runs athletics with great enthusiasm ... but it's the rugby that he's most passionate about. Unlike any other boy in his school, Leonardo has one leg. The other was amputated under the knee when he was just 6-years old. Leonard's mom, Nomi explains that he was born with club-feet. This is usually a treatable condition that can be corrected with therapy or surgery. In Leonardo's case however, the condition was very severe in the one lower leg. His parents were advised to go back to the doctor at the age of 4, for a specialized procedure. However, is condition only worsened and two years later, he lost the lower leg. Leonardo was able to get a prosthetic limb - but he has grown so quickly - that he has outgrown the leg and needs a new one. This time round, his parents are in a financially worse situation after his dad lost his job. They've managed to scrape together R10 000,00 - but they are still short of around R23 000,00. What's more: Leonardo has his heart set on a Blue Bulls limb, this time with a Springbok AND a Daisy.
ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Thank you so much to Christo and The Round Table for making a major difference to the lives of Leonardo and his family.
