Good Morning Angels New Year's Edition: Thato Malia's accounting dream
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Thato Malia is finally on her way to becoming an accountant, thanks to the Good Morning Angels New Year's Edition in partnership with #SabatBatteries.
BACKGROUND: Thato Malia has never given up on her dream of becoming an accountant.
After matriculating in 2016, she was not accepted at her chosen university. Her parents were also not able to assist with funding. She could have given up there and then, but she didn’t.
In 2018, Thato enrolled for and achieved a Higher Certificate in Accounting Sciences. Her mom, Christina, was a single parent by then and the only provider to Thato and her two brothers. At the time, their prayers were answered and an NSFAS bursary came through.
Thato Malia has now been accepted to study Accounting at UNISA and cannot wait to start. She has tried to save up to pay for her tuition fees, but still cannot get the funds together. Her mom, who supports her dream, barely covers living expenses and school fees for her two younger brothers, with her income as a temporary babysitter. She is a huge Jacaranda FM and Martin Bester fan and she knows Good Morning Angels well, so she decided to ask for assistance.
REQUEST FOR: Thato Malia
ANGEL: Dave Arnold representing Sabat Batteries
SPONSORING: Sabat Batteries will assist Thato Malia with the R20,000 to cover her 2022 tuition fees to study Accounting at UNISA.
ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Good day,
My name is Thato Malia and I would like to nominate myself for the bursary opportunity.
I finished my matric in 2016 and I was unable to further my studies as both my parents were unemployed at the time and I did not get accepted at my chosen university. In 2018, I was able to study for a Higher Certificate in Accounting Sciences as an abridged course. I have now applied at UNISA for a Bachelors in Accounting Sciences and have been accepted, however, my mother and I can still not afford the fees as she works on a temporary basis as a babysitter. All I need to fulfil this dream of mine is the funds to pay the tuition fees and the textbook fees, I will also need access to the internet as UNISA studying is mostly done online.
Thank you for the consideration,
Good Morning Angels New Year's Edition in partnership with #SabatBatteries.
