Francois Coetzee is a grade 7 pupil at Laerskool Laeveld in Mpumalanga. After an athletics meeting in February, Francois collapsed. To his parents' shock, it was found that Francois had suffered a stroke - healthy and at the age of 12. He has recovered to the point that he can walk and use his limbs. BACKGROUND: Francois Coetzee is a healthy, athletic and popular Grade 7 learner at the Laerskool Laeveld in Mpumalanga. He is a member of his school's student representative body and also represents his school in various sports including athletics, rugby. He has never had any medical problems and has been doing well in his final year of primary school. After an athletics meeting in February, Francois collapsed. To his parents' shock, it was found that Francois had suffered a stroke - healthy and at the age of 12. He has recovered to the point that he can walk and use his limbs. His speech is still affected and he can say single words. With the correct therapy and care, its believed that Francois can recover well - and that's why his family needs help. His school principal, Theo Kruger wrote to Good Morning Angels on behalf of the family and school community. Up to this point the medical aid has covered most of Francois' needs - but this will soon run out and funds for his continued care and therapy are needed.

Ek is tans skoolhoof by Laerskool Laeveld in Nelspruit. Een van ons leerders, Francois Coetzee (Gr 7), is tans in Macadamia versorgingskliniek. Hy het na ‘n atletiekbyeenkoms, ‘n beroerte gehad.Sy regterarm en –been asook sy spraak is aangetas. As skoolgemeenskap wil ons so graag met julle hande vat en ‘n verskil in sy lewe maak. Kan julle ons help? Ons sal saam met julle hierdie pad wil stap. Ons het julle só nodig! Julle goeie dade gaan julle vooruit.
Hoop ons kan saam met julle ‘n verskil maak. Ons jaartema is juis: “Bou die mure”, en ons probeer hierdeur juis na ander uit te reik. My selnommer is 082 496 5897.

Detail oor Francois soos aangevra:
Francois was in totaal een week en twee dae in die hospitaal – Sondag tot Donderdag in ICU, toe oorgeplaas na ander sale. M-Care waar hy tans is, se koste beloop R1,640 per dag, dus R11,480 per week (medikasie , terapie en dokterfooie uitgesluit). Hy sal in totaal 6 weke daar wees totdat hy ontslaan word, tensy die medies langer verblyf toestaan, wat ons sterk betwyfel.
Hy ontvang tans fisio terapie, arbeidsterapie en spraak terapie op ‘n daaglikse basis wat ongeveer R1200 per dag kos. Sodra hy ontslaan word uit M-Care uit sal ons moet aansoek doen vir buite pasient fonds by die mediese fonds, wat ons nie gewaarborg is toegestaan gaan word nie, en indien dit toegestaan word weet ons nie hoeveel sessie hy gaan kry nie. Hy sterk fisies baie goed aan en sy fisio behoort nie nog baie lank aan te gaan nie, maar hy sukkel met die akedemiese sy van sy toestand en moet amper weer van vooraf leer lees en skryf. Dus, wanneer hy ontslaan word gaan ons remidiërende onderwys moet begin doen totdat hy weer op die vlak is waar hy moet wees, wat ek glo ‘n geruime tyd gaan neem. Alles natuurlik in samewerking met sy spraak terapeut.
Natuurlik gaan ons nog die probleem van ‘dagsorg’ hê wanneer hy ontslaan word. Francois is ‘n sterk kompeterende seun gewees wat prefek is by die skool asook in die 1ste rugbyspan ingesluit was.
