Good Morning Angels: Supporting a gender-based violence survivor who's changing lives
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
It's the Good Morning Angels Festive Edition 2022 with Roman's Pizza! On Monday, we supported a strong gender-based violence survivor, who helps other women to stand on their own feet.
BACKGROUND: Antoinette Maluleke is a survivor of domestic violence. After almost dying at the hands of her perpetrator, Antoinette decided to choose to leave her abusive marriage of many years, to give herself and her two daughters a chance to really live. Leaving was not easy, as she had to face the world as a single, unemployed parent to two young children (then aged 2 and 5). She didn't know where to turn to, or how to build a stable life for herself and her daughters, but she was determined.
Good Morning Angels: R100,000 for the fight against gender-based violence
Antoinette grabbed opportunities to develop her skills and abilities. She found a job and was able to put her daughters through school. She realised that the support, guidance, and help she received along the way helped her through the difficult times. That’s why she started the Basadi Ba Moshito Foundation to help other women.
