Good Morning Angels: A young man gets to finish his final year of studies
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Kingsley gets to finish his final year of IT studies after receiving the needed funding. The Good Morning Angels New Year's Edition 2023 is powered by Willard Batteries.
Kingsley Mafa is very serious about his future and providing a better life for himself and his family. He passed his 2nd year of IT studies with five distinctions in 2022.
This year, his 3rd and final year lies ahead, but it started with a curve ball; his parents will not be able to pay for this year. Moreover, he will have to live in a student residence, as the campus where he studied moved. He does not have the means to travel from Benoni to JHB to attend classes.
Kingsley’s friend, Nicole, wrote to Good Morning Angels asking for assistance to enable Kingsley to finish what he started and to reward his hard work and dedication with assistance from the Willard Bursary Fund.

"It is rare to find 19-year-old boys trying to make a life for themselves around the area that we stay in... a lot of them just waste their lives on the streets and end up doing nothing good with their lives,” says Nicole.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Hello, my name is Nicole. I am 21.
I nominate a friend of mine called Kingsley Mafa. The reason why I nominate him is because it is upsetting to know that this is his last year in college and there might be a possibility that he might not be able to finish his studies.
Kingsley is studying IT at Richfield college. He is 19 and he is the first born with two other siblings. IT is a three-year course, he started studying at Richfield in 2021. His parents were able to pay for his fees for 2021 and 2022, then January 2023 they told him that they will not be able to pay for the fees anymore.
The painful thing about all this is that it is his last year and I wish this matter was brought to him by his parents last year, so that we had time to apply for other bursaries. It is January and it is a bit late, it seems as if all he has worked for has been for nothing, it is as if all doors are closing up on him.
Most bursaries don’t accommodate Richfield because it is a private institution, we could not take a bank loan because his parents have more things to pay for and they won’t be able to help him this year (2023)
I believe he deserves a boost this year just so he can finish this year and at least be able to do something with his life.
Kingsley resides in Benoni, in 2021 he studied in a Richfield college campus that is in Benoni. It then got closed and he had to move to the closest which was in Kempton park for his study in 2022. During November exams in 2022, he received an email from the Kempton park university stating that they are also closing the campus and moving to Pretoria, Centurion. For 2023, his closest campus will be in Newtown, Johannesburg.
I would also appreciate if he got help with accommodation for his last year so that he is able to be close to his campus and finish his studies for 2023.
I would be happy to see him graduate and start a life for himself. It is rare to find 19-year-old boys try to make a life for themselves around the area that we stay in (chief A Luthuli, in Cloverdene, Benoni), a lot of them just waste their lives on the streets and end up doing nothing good with their lives.
Kingsley has tried and has held on for so long and he has come this far.
Please help him!?
