Springboks: The Laureus Team Of The Year Award 2020
Updated | By Andrew Hallett
Can the Springboks emulate their 2008 counterpart's success by winning the 'Team of the Year' award at the 2020 Laureus World Sports Awards?
The Springboks enjoyed a hugely successful 2019.
Not only did they win the Rugby Championship, but they went on to win the biggest rugby union trophy of them all - the Rugby World Cup.
In 2019, Siya Kolisi became the first black captain of the Springboks. His skills as skipper unified the side, proving that a tight-knit team has the ability to achieve their targets.

The win was also seen as a major fillip for South Africa as a country - bringing together people from all backgrounds to celebrate a win for everyone, rather than individuals.
This is the Springboks' third nomination for the 'Team of the Year' award at the Laureus World Sports Awards. The Boks took home the award in 2008, but lost out to the Brawn Formula One Team in 2010.
