Fashion blogger Miranda Dlamini shares five key clothing items you need to have in your closet
With party season around the corner, many women will be shopping for new clothes but before you start splurging on the latest fashion trends you might want to consider the basics.
Fashion blogger, Miranda Dlamini from Intro Artistry, says trends come and go but there are five must-have clothing items that will never go out of season.
So, what are these staple items every woman needs?
A pair of form-fitting jeans, a little black dress, a basic white tee, block heels and a blazer.
Miranda explains why each item is important.
Form-fitting jeans
“A pair of flattering form-fitting jeans is a definite must-have item. Jeans are probably the most worn item in most women’s closets and you want a good pair to last you for long,” she says.
Little Black Dress (LBD)
“You can never go wrong with an LBD, you can dress it up or down depending on what accessories you have.”
A basic white tee
“I know this may not seem like a fashion item but it’s a basic must have. It pairs well with jeans, formal pants and even a pencil skirt if you’re going for a smart casual look.”
A blazer
“Throw on a blazer to a simple look and you’ll look like you really put in an effort trust me on this. It just adds that extra ‘zing’ and formal seriousness to a look.”
Block heels
“They offer great support, are comfortable and with a good pair of heels you can conquer the world.”
Miranda says once you have the basics right you can add a few trendy pieces to your wardrobe to stay up-to-date with the latest trends.
But you don’t need to break the bank to do so.
“Search for cheaper trendy alternatives when shopping and compare prices amongst retailers, asking yourself if an item is worth the price tag also helps as it can narrow done what you’re willing to spend more money on and what you’re not.
"I think knowing your personal style also helps in deciding what trend to follow and what trend not to, and personal style is an entire conversation on its own but when you know what works for you and what your style is you won’t be hunting for everything that’s on trend thus saving you money.”
There is one fashion item Miranda says women should fork out more cash for - a classic black leather jacket.
“A good classic leather jacket turns any normal look into something more stylish and edgy, you can literally throw it over any outfit and it will complement the look well. It’s a good investment to make as it will never go out of style and you can rock it all year round every season,” she says.
