Ageing is an inevitable part of life. While growing old is a blessing, the wrinkles that come with it can leave some people feeling insecure.

Many are looking for the secret to youthful looks, with celebrities trying weird beauty trends like bird poop facials to look their best.

Well, if a man from Essex, England, is to be believed, you don't need fancy creams and expensive facials to look like a slowly ageing member of the Cullen family.

Tristan Lee is a 53-year-old man who, according to him, still gets ID'd when he buys lottery tickets or picks up certain prescriptions.

The secret to his baby face is not just genetics. Kindness and an optimistic mindset help a lot.

In an interview shared in the Daily Mail, Lee says that being cynical and bitter shows on your face.

"I want to put out a happy vibe," he said.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, kindness matters.

"Those of us who are kind and compassionate experience clear benefits to our  well-being and happiness. We may even live longer. Kindness also helps reduce stress and improve our emotional well-being," its website reads

There is no scientific evidence that being kind and optimistic about life will reverse ageing.

However, there's no denying that a warm and friendly smile gives you a natural facelift.

Studies have also shown that happiness makes you look younger, at least to other people. It changes the way people perceive you.

It's basically like looking at a halo-wearing angel versus a grumpy gremlin. They might be the same age, but one will just naturally look better than the other.

It's all about glowing from within.

"Have I swallowed some kind of elixir of youth?" Lee said, per the Daily Mail

"I think it's partly my youthful vibe – I am friendly and warm and optimistic, and I think your energy shows on your face."

While there are many benefits to being kind and positive, especially as far as mental health is concerned, if you want to age gracefully, you also need to exercise and eat healthily.

Lee spends a lot of time in the gym working on his fitness.

Wearing sunscreen and eating right are also part of his routine. He also avoids processed foods and eats vegan meals that nourish his body.

Lee also gets a little help from Botox but has not had any cosmetic surgeries.

"52 is the new 32. You’re not too old, and it’s not too late," he wrote in a September 2023 Instagram post.

"I often hear people say that it’s extremely difficult to make significant changes to our physique past the age of 50. I decided not to believe them!

"I sincerely hope my journey encourages anyone who has a goal which seems a little or a lot out of reach. Whether it’s a health, fitness, business, money or personal target age needn’t be a barrier."
