Get the tissues out, folks...
A father's role is to love, protect, and provide for his children, amongst many other things.
Traditionally, when a daughter gets married, the father must walk her down the aisle and hand her over to the groom. This symbolises a father giving another man the responsibility of taking care of his daughter.
A video of a father who dearly loves his daughter and wants what is best for her has been trending on social media.
In the video, which was shared three weeks ago and has over five-million likes, the father can be seen walking his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.
He then asks the groom to take good care of her.
"If one day you ever have a change of heart that you don't love my daughter anymore, please don't hurt her, just bring her back to me, and giver her back to me," says the father holding back tears.
The groom, with tears in his eyes, assures the father that he will take care of his daughter.
"Okay my precious daughter is yours," says the father.
He then hugs the son-in-law and his daughter.

"If a women ever wonders why a father gives her away at her wedding. It’s not because she is property it’s because she is loved and protected. Because that’s a fathers job. And now that father has to give that responsibility to another man to protect his precious daughter! Because his daughter is his most precious gift! God gave him," wrote an IG user.
"I'm one heck of a feminist and I can see how a dad giving away his daughter to her husband is rooted in a sexist tradition but I don't feel anything of this sort here. The dad seems to talk out of genuine love and care for his daughter. He's not violent and saying that he will break his ankles if he falls out of love, he just entrusts him with the well-being of his daughter as his wife and partner. He's pleading for him to respect his new wife even in the case of a change of heart. I mean...two men crying over their love for one woman doesn't scream toxic masculinity to me," added another user.
