Updated | By Olona Mbombo
Christmas, a time of cheerful fun and jubilance, can also become a bit tough on the wallet. I mean, there’s just so much to get for Christmas; gifts, cards, trees, lights, food, you name it. The good news is that the Christmas season comes with a couple of opportunities to earn yourself some extra cash.
There’s just so much to get for Christmas; gifts, cards, trees, lights, food, you name it. The good news is that the Christmas season comes with a couple of opportunities to earn yourself some extra cash.
Here’s a list of five ways to make some extra cash this festive season:
- Render catering services
Having to prepare a meal for a Christmas party is probably one of the most time consuming activities of the Christmas Season. So rendering catering services for these kind of events can score you some extra cash. If cooking is your passion, this could be a good opportunity for you. It could even grow into a business venture for all seasons. You never know?! A practical example of a catering service could be to render spit braai services for any events taking place during the season.
- Make corporate gifts
Many corporate companies give their employees gifts at the end of their business year as tokens of appreciation. So what you could offer to such companies is a service where you make, decorate or personalise gifts for the exact number of employees the company requests. If this sounds like your kind of thing, definitely go for it!
- Bake Christmas Goodies
Do you enjoy baking and have a special baking recipe of your own? Imagine making extra cash from doing not just what you enjoy doing but also what you’re good at? Baking Christmas goodies is a good opportunity to make extra cash.
- Family photoshoots
Nothing captures a moment better than a photograph. Because Christmas comes upon us only once every year, captured moments are the only physical places we can visit whenever we wish to reminisce. Also, Christmas is a time when most families gather together in the spirit of good cheer. So to be able to capture such precious moments forever is a duty only photographs can fulfill, which makes owning a camera during this season a good investment. With your camera, you could offer to take family photographs either in a photo studio (if you know any) or on site of that particular family gathering.
- Sell personalised gifts
If you are good at sewing, knitting or embroidery, you could make personalised gifts for your prospective clients. I know I’d value a towel with my name decorated on it and I know a lot of people would too; it just makes the towel so much more special.
