Brenda Fassie's son shares financial advice after blowing R10m
Updated | By Poelano Malema
The son of the late Brenda Fassie has learned the hard way when it comes to money after wasting more than R10-million on living a lavish lifestyle. Here is what he had to say about how to ensure you use money wisely.
Jordan Peterson once said: “Experience is the best teacher, and the worst experiences teach the best lessons.”
This is the case of Bongani Fassie, the son of the late music icon, Brenda Fassie.
The 39-year-old appeared on popular TV show, 'I Blew It', and spoke about how he wasted over R10-million on living a lavish lifestyle and drugs.
“My distribution account was supposed to be R25-million but I never received that amount,” he said on the show.

However, the millions he received were not used wisely.
Bongani spent over R100,000 daily on drinks, R70,000 for rent, expensive shoes for his girlfriends, and he also bought three Hummers.

But the biggest chunk of his money was wasted on drugs. Bongani said he spent about R4-million on drugs. Bongani told Drum Magazine in 2021 that he went to rehab and is a recovering addict.
When it comes to the biggest lesson he has learned about money, he says you need a financial expert to assist you.
“My advice to anyone who gets any amount of money is that it’s good to have a financial advisor," he said on the TV show.
He says the financial advisor will "advise you on how to invest your money and grow your money. Instead of having all that money in your pocket to spend,” he said on 'I Blew It'.
