It is transmitted through direct contact with respiratory droplets of an infected person.

According to health experts, the best way to protect yourself is to keep your distance, wear a mask, and sanitise.

So, how do you protect yourself during intercourse?

The World Health Organisation says people who are infected should be careful about having intercourse.

“There is no evidence that COVID-19 is transmitted through semen or vaginal fluids. However, having sex with someone means that you are very close to them. This puts one person at risk if the other person has COVID-19,” states the WHO.

Even partners living in the same house need to take steps to protect themselves.

“Your risk of COVID-19 is not increased if you already live in the same household as your sexual partner and you are both taking steps to protect yourself from the virus. Make sure to use condoms and contraception to avoid sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy,” states the website.
