According to the latest census report, thousands of South Africans are still living without proper toilet facilities.
Only 70.8% of households have toilets that flush.
Close to four-million households in South Africa still use pit toilets. These types of toilets can pose a health danger and attract flies and mosquitoes.
The stats show that 2.1% of households in South Africa use bucket toilets and 2.6% use chemical toilets.
One percent of households in South Africa use other toilet facilities, while sadly, 1.6% of households have no toilet facilities.
Speaking about the census report, President Cyril Ramaphosa said: "Census 2022 has told us where we are making progress, but it has also laid bare the challenges that remain."
