According to South African government guidelines, 'It is your responsibility as the owner of a vehicle to have your vehicle tested' and 'you can take it to a private or public vehicle testing station'.
Sadly, many people don't adhere to the rules of the road and we've all seen some seriously beat up cars cruising the highway - those cars that look like they are about to collapse in on themselves.

While the video above is not shot in South Africa, the same principles apply to a car being roadworthy, so please always take care of your vehicle.

- Park in the shade
- Keep your car’s paintwork looking brand new
- Fix those dents and scratches
- Keep your car clean - inside and out
- Give your car a wax - but only let a professional do it
- Try not to park too close to other cars
- Ensure you take your car for a service every year or 15,000km.
