Sasha-Lee Laurel aims to help 500 underprivileged scholars further their studies
The former Miss SA is playing her part to help better the lives of underprivileged South African youth.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This is a famous quote by Nelson Mandela.
Sadly, in South Africa education continues to be a dream for many underprivileged South Africans.
According to statistics, about 51% of South Africa’s youth - between ages 18 - 24 do not have the financial means to pay for their tertiary tuition.
Former Miss SA Sasha-Lee Laurel is trying to change this.

She has partnered with Regenesys Foundation to offer affordable education to underprivileged young South Africans.
Laurel made the announcement on her social media pages on June 16 - a day dedicated to commemorating the many lives of scholars that were lost in the fight for equal rights for all.
The Brand SA ambassador started by reliving the day where she joined scores of South African students who took part in the Fees Must Fall movement.
"Watching this video, I can’t help but feel emotional because it took me back to 2015- when I was marching alongside students in the #feesmustfall protest," she wrote.
Years later, the star is playing her part to ensure that high education fees don't get in the way of those who want to get tertiary education.
" It’s 6 years later, and I’m now a part of a team who has created ease of access to Tertiary Education," she wrote.
The Education for All Programme (ED4ALL) will see 500 people gain access to an internationally recognised qualification where they can study:
- Master of Business Administration
- Master of Public Management
- Postgraduate qualifications
- Bachelor of Business Administration
- Bachelor of Public Management
- Higher certificate qualifications

The program aims to help learners who have matric or NQF level 4 certificate. They must come from disadvantaged communities and they will be required to pay R500 per month which is capped until graduation.
The application for the bursary is open until July 31, 2021.
