Tracy Going - Domestic Violence: ‘Brutal Legacy’ & lessons of Thrival
Updated | By JacPod
In this week's Thrive with 'DrD', Dorianne Weil speaks with Tracy Going - award-winning former TV and radio news anchor and author of 'Brutal Legacy: A Memoir'.
They discuss how to recognise signs, reach out for help and overcome the crippling effects of domestic violence.
Tracy Going was a much-loved and respected television anchor in the 1990s - co-hosting on SABC 2’s 'Morning Live' with Vuyo Mbuli.
Her career was cut short by the effects of a violent, abusive five-month relationship, that culminated in Tracy's bruised and battered face being splashed across the media in the late 1990s.
Two years ago, Tracy released her debut memoir, 'Brutal Legacy' which gives the reader a vivid account of that abusive relationship.
In this week's Thrive with 'DrD' podcast, on JacPod, Tracy speaks to DrD about that experience.
They also look at:
- How does a whirlwind love relationship turn horrendously violent?
- How do you navigate the landscape of post-traumatic stress disorder, public opinion and betrayal of justice?
- Can you recover from the devastating psychological effects of violent physical abuse?
- How do you survive and thrive to embrace your life with renewed faith and optimism?
