WATCH: Retired soldier, 91, finds his long lost love

Duane Mann is a retired soldier who has been on a lifelong quest to reunite with his first love, Peggy Yamaguchi, after she broke up with him 70 years ago.

Mann received orders from the military to return home to the US and sadly by that time, Yamaguchi was pregnant. Upon his departure he promised to return and marry her.

The couple had no choice but to have a long-distance relationship and they tried to keep it going by writing letters to each other as often as possible. Unfortunately, at some point, Mann thought Yamaguchi didn’t love him anymore when he was not receiving letters from her.

Turns out his mother was burning every letter she was sending to him. Finally, the last letter Yamaguchi sent was to let Mann know that she had lost the baby and had decided to move on to marry someone else.

70 years later the two are reunited with the help of their children and journalists from around the world who ran with the story.
