Bacon & Cheese Pot Bread
Updated | By Sponsored
On the menu this week are step by step recipes for a #JustDelicious Bacon & Cheese Pot Bread (perfect side with soup), and Ham & Cheese Puffs.
A #JustDelicious go-to recipe, which can be made on the braai or baked in an oven, either way, your family and friends will not leave a crumb behind!
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 40 min
Serves: 6
Ingredients:
200 g Eskort Rindless Streaky Bacon
400 g flour
5 ml salt
15 ml sugar
10 g instant yeast
warm water
400 g cheddar cheese, grated
15 ml parsley
Method:
Preheat oven to 200°C.
Mix together flour, salt, sugar and instant yeast in a large bowl.
Add enough warm water, little by little, to make a soft pliable dough.
Cover dough and set aside to rise (it should double in size) for about 30 minutes.
Grate cheese and chop parsley and set aside.
Once dough has doubled in size, spray a cast iron pot with spray and cook.
Carefully lift the dough and gently place in the pot (you don’t want to knock the air out of the dough).
Sprinkle cheese over the dough, then sprinkle with the parsley.
Finish off by laying strips of streaky bacon across the top of the dough.
Place in oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
Serve warm with butter, as a snack, side dish at a braai or just enjoy as a delicious treat!
This week, Just Delicious features another two finalists recipes from the Eskort 100 Recipes for 100 Years competition. In fact, we’re not only featuring them, we decided to make a video featuring Michael Arch’s BBQ Pulled Pork Pitas recipe. Michael’s recipe story rings so true to our everyday life. "We all have those “I am too lazy to cook” days where a little fuss time-saver meal is needed... preferably something healthy that the Kids still love! This recipe is ideal for a quick evening meal, or informal entertaining. It is so versatile that one can literally use a vast array of filler ingredients for their pulled pork pita, but the real fun is having bowls of various ingredients so family or guests can fill their own Pita pockets per their personal taste. Filler ingredients can be from what is readily available in ones fridge, or carefully planned to appease personal taste or a specific theme, i.e. Hawaiian style with a pineapple or mango salsa/salad (this also works with Eskort Honey Glazed Rashers) or a simple favourite is Eskort BBQ Pulled Pork in Pita topped with Coleslaw! One can chose to use wraps instead of Pita if desired.”
Our second finalist recipe, Butternut and Sausage Shepherd’s Pie, was shared by Manisha Gavindasami who wrote "I am a working mother of two small kids which means time is everything and when we found out that my husband has diabetes, I had to start cooking healthy meals and incorporate the things he didn’t like into something exciting but at the same time healthy. This recipe is Super Quick, Easy and Good to Go. My husband and kids simply love it!!!
Have fun with your food, it’s time for Yummy Tummies.
