Recipe: How to make delicious ginger cookies

Ginger cookies are a massive hit in winter because ginger is known to help fight flu and colds.
Ginger cookies are delicious.
They also contain great ingredients that are immune-boosting, such as ground ginger and cinnamon.
The cookies are crunchy and coated with sugar.
They have a soft texture and taste sweet and spicy.

Ingredients
125g butter or margarine
250ml golden syrup
875ml (500 g) all purpose flour
7ml bicarbonate of soda
3ml salt
15ml ground ginger
250ml (200 g) light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon (1 gram) pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon (1 grams) ground cinnamon
1 extra-large egg, beaten
Extra light brown sugar for sprinkling
Method
Melt butter and golden syrup together in a small pot. Remove from heat and leave to cool slightly.
Add beaten egg and vanilla extract to syrup mixture and mix well.
Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda, salt, ground cinnamon and ginger together. Add sugar and mix.
Add dry ingredients to egg mixture. Mix and knead well.
Roll mixture into heaped teaspoon-size and make balls. Cover with the extra sugar.
Place onto greased baking trays, leaving enough space for spreading.
Press down lightly.
Bake in a preheated oven at 160 °C for about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on how brown you want them to be.
Leave to cool down.
