Recipe: Quick and easy hot honey sauce
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
You only need three ingredients to make this sweet and spicy sauce. Food blogger Landi Govender says you can try chipotle chilli flakes for a smokier flavour.
We'll be the first to admit it - hot sauce and honey does not sound like the best combo for fried chicken.
But the Tocka Blog's Landi Govender says the "delicious sauce" is her new favourite. She says she uses the hot honey sauce on halloumi, whipped feta, and salad dressings.
"I first saw this trend online with someone adding hot sauce and honey to chicken, we thought this was insane until we tried it – Genius!!!" she says.
Landi says the sauce is pretty easy to make and you only need three ingredients!
"It’s honey that’s infused with dried chilli flakes. It’s sweet, it’s spicy, and you’re going to love it... You can of course play around with the heat, try chipotle chilli flakes for a smokier flavour, and a serrano chilli for something with a bit more kick."
The recipe is part of her Thanksgiving series. Here's how to make the sauce.
Hot honey sauce ingredients
1 cup honey
1 tablespoon chilli flake (adjust according to your liking)
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
