Yay or Nay? KFC replaces lettuce with cabbage in burgers and wraps
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Fancy some cabbage on your burger? KFC in Australia is replacing lettuce with cabbage on some of its dishes. Here's why...
KFC in Australia has had to substitute lettuce with cabbage in its meals, following a shortage of lettuce.
According to BBC, the shortage is caused by floods in the area which have destroyed the crop.
"Due to the recent floods in NSW [New South Wales] and QLD [Queensland] we're currently experiencing a lettuce shortage. So, we're using a lettuce and cabbage blend on all products containing lettuce until further notice," states KFC Australia.
The lettuce shortage has also led to a massive price increase.

According to BBC, lettuce prices have gone up by 300%.
This is not the first time this year the food chain has had to modify its menu due to food shortages.
Earlier this year, there was a shortage of chicken due to a reduced number of staff at Australia's biggest chicken supplier, Ingham's. The "rapid spread of the Omicron variant across eastern Australian states" was to blame.
