LISTEN | 50,000 trash bags collected for his 50th birthday
Updated | By Brent Lindeque
It took just six months for Joburger Sean Williams and his team to collect and recycle over 50,000 bags of trash to celebrate his 50th birthday!
A Joburg man set himself a goal to collect – and recycle – 50,000 bags of trash before his 50th birthday and exactly one day before his big day… he did it!
But the story behind Sean Williams and his incredible clean-up
initiative started with Lovemore Robson - is also one of friendship,
determination and good things.
The environmentalists have become heroes in the north of Johannesburg as the team leading a clean-up revolution while saving our environment, one piece of trash at a time!
Together, the two environmentalists have started a clean-up business – Live Life Always (LLA) – that has employed over 20 Diepsloot residents who help keep the entire Fourways, Jukskei River and surrounds clean.
Good Things Guy Brent Lindeque talks to Sean about the initiative and how it all got started.
Meanwhile, Imagined Earth is a revolutionary company which has introduced reverse
vending machines into South Africa which effectively pay you to recycle!

The world generates at least 3.5 million tons of plastic and other solid waste a day, 10 times the amount it did a century ago.
Fortunately, there's a growing number of people and businesses who're starting to support the zero-waste movement, and this App is not only helping South Africa get there, but it’s paying us too.
