Dogs can become hosts to ticks whether they are homebodies or love a trip outside.

Here are four ways you can protect your dog from ticks and the diseases they spread:
Scan your pup for ticks regularly
Ticks love to live on the neck, head, ears, feet, and between the toes of dogs, so please regularly check these areas on your pooch.
As tick bites are difficult to detect once a tick has abandoned ship, it is important to regularly check for the ticks themselves. If you happen to live in a known high-risk tick area, daily checks are advised.
Familiarise yourself with tick hiding places
While ticks can be found pretty much anywhere, they do love spots like wooded areas, trails, parks, residential gardens, dog parks, kennels, and doggy day cares. Long grass is believed to be their favourite.
If your dog has been to any of these places, make sure you check them ASAP.

Treat your garden
As mentioned, ticks love long grass. Therefore, it is important to ensure that your garden does not become overgrown, as your dog will be at risk of picking up a tick.
Keep your grass and bushes trimmed and look at potential sprays that can be used to remove the ticks at source.
