A man is finally evicted after living rent free for 23 years
Updated | By Lifestyle Reporter
The courts have finally ruled that Guramrit Hanspal, a 52-year-old man from Long Island, will need to evict the home he has been living in for 23 years rent free.

For 23 years, Hanspal has been able to use the system to his advantage. However, his deceitful ways have finally come to an end, as a court has now ordered the man to leave the house.
The last attempt to remain in the home was to apply for a COVID-19 Hardship Protection Order. Under this order, people are not allowed to be evicted from their place of residence, even if they cannot pay rent.

The court ordered that Hanspal is, in fact, not a tenant but a squatter. Therefore, he does not qualify for the protection order.
In the past 20 years, three different property owners have tried to have him evicted from the three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home. Unfortunately, the previous owners had to give up due to expensive legal fees.

The house was purchased in 1998 for $290,000, and since then, only one mortgage payment has been made before defaulting.
We are sure this is a true victory for the new property owners and a massive relief.
