Stain removal tips you need to know this holiday season

The festive season holidays are just around the corner, which means your home is going to become a lot noisier and fuller than usual. 

With guests popping in and out, you are likely to experience at least one of these stains in the coming weeks. 

But don't let stains ruin your festive spirit. 

Here's how you can easily remove four common household stains.

Red wine

Red wine will be flowing a lot this holiday season and the chances of a stain-related accident happening are very high.  Whether you spill wine on your brand new dress or your white carpet, you want to tackle this stain as soon as it happens. First try to remove as much of the wine, in this case you can cover a red wine stain with a handful of salt. It will turn a pink colour as it soaks up all the liquid. Then use a sponge that has been dipped in cool water and a dish-washing liquid solution (one tablespoon to two cups of water) to remove the stain. Repeat several times. It's not fail-proof, but it is worth a try. It is also wise to wash a garment that has been stained with wine immediately.

Chocolate

Chocolate is a festive season favourite - whether as a gift or the key ingredient for a yummy dessert. If you get a chocolate stain on your outfit or a sofa, don't worry because it can be quite easy to remove. Instead of using a soap solution to clean the stain, use milk. You can use the soap solution mentioned above to clean your upholstery, and demonstrated in the second video below:

Tea and coffee

You will likely be serving a lot of tea and coffee over the next month, so this stain removal tip is one you want to remember. Over time the inside of your mugs will discolour, giving them a not-so-appealing look. Tomato sauce aka ketchup

There will always be that one family member who insists on adding tomato sauce to every dish you serve this festive season. It's all good until they accidentally spill some of it on your newly-bought, just-for-Christmas carpet. It will take some elbow grease but you might be able to get it out if you follow the steps in the video as soon as possible after the spill:
