Prevent houseflies from pestering you this Summer by having these plants in your home.
Having flies in your house can pose a health risk.
Flies carry all sorts of bacteria and they can spread viruses.
According to Healthline, houseflies can cause food poisoning.
To prevent flies from pestering you or causing you harm, below are natural items you can have in your home that will keep the flies away.
Remember, flies are attracted to areas where there is food, sugar, water or moist places. Your rubbish bin also attracts flies, so try to keep your house as clean as possible and keep food in places where the flies won’t have easy access to them.

Basil
Basil has several uses. Many people use it in drinks and for cooking.
But one surprising use of basil is that it can help prevent flies from gathering. This is because flies detest its smell.
If you haven’t planted basil, you can spread it throughout your house next to the food and rubbish bins.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon has a very strong smell and flies can’t stand it. Backyard Pests reports that cinnamon hides the smell of food that flies want to eat and it also stops flies from being able to communicate with each other or taste food because the cinnamon overpowers a fly’s senses.
