Kylie Minogue and Prince's demo, 'Baby Doll', was 'lost' three decades ago, but it might have found its way online.

The song, recorded in 1992, came about after the two singers met backstage after one of his ‘Diamonds and Pearls’ shows in London.

Kylie was a massive fan of the 'Purple Rain' hitmaker, and she was understandably excited to meet him.

"I love him. Firstly, I had never seen him live before, so that was an experience in itself, and I got to meet him afterwards," she told BBC Music in 2023.

The 56-year-old plucked up the courage to ask Prince what he was working on. The late singer shared he was working on a new album, prompting Kylie to hint that she'd love to work with him.

They hung out for a bit, and Prince later asked her to write him some lyrics. "It's a blur. I don't know how it happened," she said about their out-of-body meeting.

Prince's driver later delivered a cassette of Prince singing 'Baby Doll' featuring the lyrics she wrote. "It's just me, home alone in my apartment in London, receiving this cassette. I mean, it was a moment."

Kylie says her label wasn't too keen on the idea, so she didn't record any vocals for the track. According to NME, the cassette with the demo went missing, but Prince's estate reportedly might still have a copy.

"Nothing ever happened to that, but I would love it one day if his estate granted me permission to do something with it," Kylie told BBC Music.

A YouTube account named New Paisley Generation shared a supposed leak of the song online. It featured the lyrics that Kylie mentioned in previous interviews.

“Let me be your baby doll, sugar and spice and all things nice/ Let me be your paradise.”

The clip has since been removed from the video-sharing site due to a copyright claim from Warner Music Group.

However, you can still hear a soundbite from the demo that aired on Australia's 'The Morning Show', below.
