Billie Eilish named top artist born in the 21st century

Billie Eilish has been crowned the top artist of her generation.
Billboard magazine has announced the top five artists of the 21st century who were born in the 21st century.
In January, 'Anti-Hero' hitmaker Taylor Swift was named the top artist of the 21st century based on her success on the Billboard 200 albums and Hot 100 songs charts.
However, she was born in 1989 – 11 years and 19 days before the 21st century.
Eilish was born in 2001.
Here are the top five artists born after 2000:
1. Billie Eilish
2. Olivia Rodrigo
3. The Kid LAROI
4. Benson Boone
5. Bailey Zimmerman
All five artists have also enjoyed success in South Africa. Eilish and Boone are currently both featured in the CTM Top 40 with Danny Painter.
Eilish is at #11 with 'Birds of a Feather' and Boone's 'Slow it Down' is #35.
Billboard recognised Eilish as one of the top artists of the 21st century, born in the 21st century, for her amazing chart success.
"Despite having a relatively limited time to make their mark, several acts born in the 2000s shine with impressive histories on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100," the publication said.
The 'Oceans Eyes' singer's 2019 album, 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?', debuted at number one in America. It produced hits such as 'You Should See Me in a Crown' and 'Bad Guy'.
Her latest album, 'Hit Me Hard and Soft' peaked at #2
Several songs from the album, which was released in May 2024, charted on the Billboard Hot 100, including the top 10 hit, 'Birds of a Feather'.
Eilish's fans agreed that she is the undisputed top artist of her generation.
"Our Gen Z queen," one wrote on X.
Another added: "Billie Eilish truly dominates!"
One X user criticised Billboard for its random title, because what even is top artist of the 21st century born in the 21st century.
"They just be making up these titles at this point, congrats though."
