Chappell Roan is releasing a new country song this week, but the star has assured her fans that her upcoming album will stick to her pop roots.

The 'Good Luck, Babe' singer is set to release her first-ever country song, ‘The Giver’, this week. She co-wrote the song with producer Daniel Nigro.

“I wanted to write a country song because I just thought it would be funny. It’s campy and fun," she said during an interview on 'Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen' on Apple Music.

"I'm from southwest Missouri, grew up on Christian and country, and then found ‘Alejandro’ by Lady Gaga and I was like, ‘I think I like this, too.’ So, I have kept country in my heart," she added in the interview, per a clip shared on E! News

While fans have only heard teasers of the track, they wondered whether her sophomore album will be country themed.

“I really just did it for fun. I'm not switching genres or anything."

Roan also revealed in an Instagram post earlier this month that she enjoyed recording 'The Giver'.

"We’ve never done a country song and I have such a special place in my heart for country music. I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bonfires, grocery stores and karaoke bars."

She hasn't ruled out recording more country music in the future, but for now, she is just having fun.

"I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun and 'The Giver' is my take on country. Xoxo. May the classic country divas lead their genre, I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for y'all," Roan said.

Roan has already started working on her second studio album, which does not have a title or release date as yet.

The 27-year-old is the latest musician to venture into country music. Post Malone and Beyoncé successfully crossed over in 2024.

Queen B's album, 'Cowboy Carter', won 'Album of the Year' and 'Best Country Album' at the 2025 Grammys.
