The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced its 2025 inductees

'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' hitmaker Cyndi Lauper is the only solo female artist to be inducted in the performer category this year.

Lauper joins music greats such as Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Bessie Smith, Etta James, Janis Joplin, Gladys Knight and Madonna.

Recent female inductees include Mary J. Blige, Cher, Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston.

Lauper took to Instagram shortly after Sunday night's announcement to pay tribute to her fellow female inductees.

"I'm humbled to be in the company of so many of my heroes - Aretha, Tina, Chaka, Joni, Wanda, to name just a few. Women have made so many important contributions to music and to rock 'n roll, and a win for one of us is a win for all of us," she wrote.

Lauper, who is currently on the final leg of her farewell tour, also thanked her fans for their continuous support.

"Thank you to the voting members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for this honour. And thank you to my fans for supporting me throughout my career. I could not do any of this without you."

The 71-year-old released her debut solo album, 'She's So Unusual', in the early eighties. It included her hits songs 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' and 'Time After Time'.

This year's inductees also include:

  • Bad Company
  • Chubby Checker
  • Joe Cocker
  • Outkast
  • Soundgarden
  • The White Stripes

Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon received the Music Influence Award, while Nicky Hopkins, Thom Bell, and Carol Kaye were recognised for Musical Excellence.

Music industry executive Lenny Waronker received the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Mariah Carey, who was nominated for a second year in a row, was not inducted. However, fans are hoping the third time will be the charm in 2026.

"I wish Mariah Carey would've gotten inducted into this year's Rock Hall 2025 class, but hopefully she finally does get inducted next year 🤞🏾💯," one fan wrote.

The inductees will be honoured at a special ceremony later this year.

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on November 8.

Fans will be able to watch the ceremony on Disney+.
