Drake and Chris Brown are in trouble with the law.

According to several media reports, the two stars are facing an infringement lawsuit over their hit, 'No Guidance'.

The new lawsuit comes two years after a previous copyright suit regarding the song was dropped.

Artists Tykeiya Dore and Marc Stephens laid the charges against Brown and Drake, along with several other songwriters and music publishers, reports IOL

Dore and Stephens claim 'No Guidance' ripped off their 2016 song, 'I Got It', and are seeking at least $5-million (approximately R88-million) in damages.

According to several publications, the complaint was filed in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey on October 25.

Dore and Stephens argue that 'No Guidance' borrowed a key lyric from 'I Got It' and that the writers tweaked the song to say, "You got it."

They also claim that “The chorus of … ‘No Guidance’ is a continuous use of the word[s] ‘you got it’, which uses the same chord progressions, tempo, pitch, key, melody, harmony, rhythm, structure, phrasing and lyrics as plaintiffs’ song, ‘I Got It’.”

Dore and Stephens also claim that the defendants intentionally masked their use of the title 'I Got It' by naming their track 'No Guidance'; however, the title doesn’t even appear in the chorus.

“It’s impossible not to hear that the two songs are substantially similar,” they claimed.
