Kelly Clarkson sings Tamia's 'Stranger in My House'
This woman can sing anything! Kelly impresses with another amazing cover, this time taking on an R&B classic.
Kelly Clarkson's rendition of a popular Tamia song is getting rave reviews online. The former American Idol winner covered Tamia's R&B hit song, 'Stranger in My House', on 'Kellyoke'.
'Kellyoke' is a popular segment on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'. In it, she covers well-known songs with the help of her house band, My Band Y'all.
Tamia released 'Stranger in My House' in 2000 as the second single from her album, 'A Nu Day'.
"I love how @kellyclarkson can sing any genre of music. Her voice is magic! S/O to @realtamiaworld an INCREDIBLE vocalist who doesn’t nearly get the credit she deserves for her contributions to the industry and culture!" one Instagram user wrote.
While a second person said, "She can sing any song and I love her show because she has the greatest spirit, she did a beautiful job and she has the best show ever, I love that she takes the time to sing a song on her show."
Some have nicknamed the 'Because of You' singer "Kelly Latoya Lakeisha Clarkson Jenkins".
Tamia also showed some love. "🫶🏽🫶🏽," she commented on a clip from the performance.
Kelly has performed scores of covers since starting her 'Kellyoke' segment in 2019. Some of her fan-favourites include Sabrina Carpenter's 'Please Please Please' and Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On'.
She also released a 'Kellyoke' EP in 2022, which features six cover songs, including The Weeknd's 'Call Out My Name', Whitney Houston's 'Queen of the Night' and 'Happier Than Ever' by Billie Eilish.
Jason Halbert, Kelly's music director, told Vulture in 2019, "I get a list of songs that have been requested, and I have to make sure we haven’t already covered a song, or if we did, is there a way we can present it differently? And she’s definitely part of choosing the final selections, because there’s certain songs that lend to her voice better than others."
