Louis Tomlinson rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
When the band split in 2018, each of the members pursued solo careers.
Louis says in the early years of his career, he used to compare himself to Harry Styles - the most successful member of the group.
Speaking to Telegraph, the former One Direction member opened up about how he used to be bothered by Styles' success.
“I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bother me at first,” Louis admitted.

However, he explained that this was because, as far as his career was concerned, his only point of reference at the time was his former band members.
He says he also compared himself only because he didn’t know where to place himself.
"And really my only point of reference was other members of the band," he said, before adding that he now understands why Styles is the most-successful.
"But it’s not surprising to me that Harry’s the most commercially successful because he really fits the mold of a modern star.
"He’s not just doing music, he’s got film as well, and the tour he’s done is unbelievable," he added.
Louis says he has now found his focus in terms of his music, even though it took him a while.
The 'Steal My Girl' hitmaker says Styles is like a brother to him and they support each other's careers.
“I look on Harry like a brother, man. I have a lot of pride for what he’s doing,” he added.
The singer-songwriter also spoke about the relationship between the four band members.
"We check in on each other. We good like that because we have lived through such experiences together in One Direction, this bond that we have is for life," he said.
