One year ago, Madonna was rushed to the hospital after contracting a serious bacterial infection.

She reflected on the difficult period in a post shared on Instagram.

"A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life-threatening illness; I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler. I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year. Thank you, God. Life is beautiful!" she wrote while celebrating Independence Day in America.

The 65-year-old was placed in a medically induced coma and spent several days in the hospital in 2023.

Madonna credited her children with helping her overcome her illness.

"Love from family and friends is the best Medicine... up In the needs Of your children and the seemingly endless giving……….. But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference," she wrote several weeks after she was released from the hospital.

The 'Material Girl' hitmaker has six children - Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, and twins Stella and Estere. Rocco is her son with English filmmaker Guy Ritchie

Madonna recovered from her illness and kicked off her 'Celebration Tour' in October 2023. Her children joined her on stage during some of her shows.

She thanked them for participating in the tour in a sweet message she shared on Instagram in April.

"On the day before our 80th show of the Celebration Tour I need to acknowledge my incredibly talented children who carried me through this Journey each of them bringing their own unique talent to the stage.

"Rehearsals began over a year ago with almost a 2-month break waiting for me [to] recover from a near-death experience. They never stopped practicing… they never stopped cheering me on and supporting me. [Their] enthusiasm kept me Going!!!
They were also going to school and rehearsing every night!! Am so very proud of all of them," she wrote.
