Miley Cyrus: "My soul aches" for LA fire victims
Updated | By Music Reporter
Miley Cyrus sympathises with the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires after losing her Malibu home in the Woolsey fire in 2018.
Miley Cyrus says the devastation and loss caused by the Los Angeles wildfires is "heartbreaking". The 'Flowers' hitmaker knows firsthand the devastation it brings.
Her $2.5 million Malibu mansion burned down in 2018 while she was shooting scenes for 'Black Mirror' in South Africa. She lived in the house with her then-fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, and had reportedly planned to host their wedding there.
Miley wrote a song called 'Malibu' in honour of their relationship. "But here I am, next to you/ The sky's more blue in Malibu/ Next to you in Malibu/ Next to you," she sings.
She created many memories in her Malibu home. The Grammy award winner shared a black and white picture showing the damage caused to her home.
"This image hits me hard in the heart today. This is a photo taken of my front porch in 2018 after losing our house in the Woolsey fires. It’s a feeling you don’t ever forget. Walking up to the door you would pass through daily, looking forward to being greeted by the ones you love like you always do but instead being met by a pile of ash and rubble," she wrote on X.
The 32-year-old says she is supporting several organisations fighting the wildfires in LA, including the Malibu Foundation, which she helped launch in 2018.
The foundation supports LA communities in rebuilding their homes and lives after natural disasters.
"My soul aches for those who are experiencing this devastation firsthand, and I cry for my city. It’s beyond heartbreaking. Los Angeles represents 'living the dream' but the reality today is wreckage and destruction," Miley wrote.
She ended her post: "Time, resources and dedication from inside and outside of our community will heal us, but it hurts deeply for now..."

Miley Cyrus is one of several A-list musicians expected to make an appearance at the 2025 Grammys. However, recent reports suggest that the Sunday, February 2, ceremony might be postponed.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at Crypto.com Arena in LA.
Miley is nominated for a Grammy at this year's ceremony, alongside Beyoncé, who leads the nominations with 11 nods for her album, 'Cowboy Carter'.
The pair's duet, 'II Most Wanted', is nominated for 'Best Country Duo/Group Performance'. Morgan Wallen and Post Malone are also nominated in the category for their hit single, 'I Had Some Help'.
The Recording Academy says, "The entire GRAMMY family is shocked and deeply saddened by the situation that is unfolding in Los Angeles."
"Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. To support music professionals affected by this crisis, the Recording Academy and @MusiCares have pledged $1 million through the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort."
