'My favourite album' – Alessia Cara drops 'Love & Hyperbole'
Updated | By Music Reporter
Alessia Cara's new album, 'Love & Hyperbole', is officially out, and she says it's her favourite album yet.

Alessia Cara's new album, 'Love & Hyperbole', is officially out. This is the Canadian singer's fourth studio album.
"My favourite album I’ve ever made, finally yours. Thank you so much for listening," she wrote on Instagram.
The 14-track album includes songs such as 'Slow Motion', 'Dead Man' and '(Isn't It) Obvious'.
"From the energetic opener 'Go Outside!' to the reflective finale 'Clearly,' the LP traces an enthralling journey through the ups, downs, twists, and turns of infatuation, love, heartbreak, and letting go. At the same time, it illuminates her sonic progression with its immersive soundscape and cohesive vision," a statement about the release states.
Cara admitted ahead of the album's debut that she was nervous about people listening to her new body of work.
"I feel good. I mean, it’s a little scarier now because you can’t change anything. People are gonna hear it real soon, so it’s a little nerve-wracking. But I’m still very excited, probably more excited than I’ve ever been releasing anything because I’ve been sitting on this music for a really long time," she told Euphoria.
"It’s also my favourite project I’m going to be putting it or that I’ve ever made. I’m definitely excited but there is a huge part of me that’s nervous and scared.”
Cara also talked about the songwriting process for her new album, revealing that she allowed herself to say what she was feeling "without fear of being sappy or cheesy".
"I think when you have such an identity, not only as a writer but as a person, in my case, I tend to be inspired mostly by melancholy. Like most writers, we don’t really need to vent when we’re happy. I get most of my inspiration from pain and in my life, I feel like that’s always kind of been my default.
"Unfortunately, I’ve dealt with a lot of mental and emotional struggles, so I had to readjust in that way because it wasn’t something that I knew how to do or how to approach. I approached songwriting from a place of needing to get bad feelings out of me.”
'Love & Hyperbole' was released on Valentine's Day, and reviews are already rolling in.
"Just listened through the whole album and grooved while I cleaned the kitchen – SO good!" one fan wrote on Instagram.
Another listener gave the album 10/10.
"All the songs are SOOO GOOD 10/10 to all and 'Subside' hurt sooo good. Your voice is just so beautiful. Your singing sent me to heaven and I was crying from so much joy and emotion that you put into the song. Subside is my favourite songgg on the album im wayyy too happy to sleep!"
