Nomcebo Zikode: 'Jerusalema' is the highest earning song in South Africa
Updated | By Poelano Malema
The song also received the Gold Status award from The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Congratulations are in order for Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode, whose hit single, 'Jerusalema', has just been awarded Gold Status by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The news was shared by Nomcebo on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of the certificate.
"I wrote and performed “JERUSALEMA” in my language isiZulu. The success it has had has been recognised around the world," she wrote.

The star also revealed that the song is currently the "highest earning song in South Africa".
Nomcebo has been engaged in a battle with Master KG over royalties for the song.
Last year, she claimed that she has not received any payment for the song.
"I have not been paid a cent by the label for #Jerusalema despite the song's global success. I have been ridiculed, with efforts to marginalize my contribution," she wrote on Twitter in July 2021.
Master KG took to Twitter to explain that the reason there was a dispute is because Nomcebo, who is a featured artist, wanted to be paid 70% of the royalties, instead of 50%, which was the initial agreement between the two of them.
"The Agreement Of Jerusalema Is 50/50 Between Me And Nomcebo But Wants 70% and I Must Get 30%," wrote Master KG.
Nomcebo says her "story is far from over".
"I’ve lived an amazing life with great people who have helped me throughout my ups and downs, despite the fact that some people have attempted to dim my light and downplay my work and achievement. I am proud of myself and I know that my voice will forever be synonymous with this great accomplishment. Thank you God & thank you to all my supporters. Kazi iyozala nkomoni," she wrote.
