Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees to be announced soon

The latest Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be announced on the next episode of 'American Idol'.

The singing competition will hold a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame night on Sunday, April 27. 

Contestants will sing songs made famous by previous inductees. 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest will announce the 2025 inductees during the show. 

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced its list of 14 performer nominees in February. They are: 

• Bad Company 

• Mariah Carey 

• The Black Crowes 

• Billy Idol 

• The White Stripes 

• Chubby Checker 

• Outkast 

• Joe Cocker 

• Joy Division/New Order 

• Cyndi Lauper

• Phish 

• Maná 

• Oasis 

• Soundgarden 

This is Carey's second nomination in a row. She was also a nominee in 2024. Cher, Mary J Blige, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and the Dave Matthews Band were some of the inductees. 

"It’s always an incredible honour to be recognised alongside so many legendary artists I admire. Thank you to the @rockhall and, of course, to my amazing fans – you are the heart of everything I do. This means so much!" she wrote on Instagram.

Musicians only become eligible for a Rock & Fame Hall of Fame nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording.

Carey has been eligible since 2016 but received her first nomination last year. 

"Nominee ballots will be distributed to an international voting panel composed of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. The selection criteria include an artist’s impact on music culture, influence on other musicians that have followed, as well as the scope and longevity of their career and body of work," the foundation said in a statement. 

Eight musicians were inducted into the performer category last year. Five to seven people are typically inducted every year. 

A total of 16 inductees, including eight musical figures in the Musical Excellence, Musical Influence and Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award categories were named in 2024. 

"These remarkable nominees have each created their own musical style and attitude, impacting generations of music lovers and contributing to the ever-evolving sounds and continued growth of rock & roll,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said about this year's nominees. 

The class of 2025 will be honoured at a special ceremony in Los Angeles later this year.
