'Slow Motion' – Alessia Cara releases new song
Updated | By Music Reporter
Alessia Cara says her latest song is "one of my favourites" from her upcoming album.
Grammy Award-winner Alessia Cara has released a third song from her new album, 'Love & Hyperbole'.
The single was released on Friday, January 24. It was produced by Mike Elizondo and Jake Gosling, who have worked with artists like Ed Sheeran, Nelly Furtado, and Twenty One Pilots.
"I see everything in slow motion/ All the heavens suddenly opened/ Heard you say it's me or it's no one/No one gets through to me quite like you do," she sings.
The Canadian singer is credited as a writer of the song alongside Matt Brettle.
"One of my favourites from 'Love & Hyperbole' (yes I know I say that about every song but how lucky am I that I get to?!). Had so much fun making this song, in all it’s many shapes. Thank you to the lovely dream team for making / playing / singing on it with me," she wrote on Instagram.
'Dead Man', the lead single from 'Love & Hyperbole', was released in July 2024. Speaking to People magazine last year, Cara said the track combines the feeling of all the songs she loved growing up.
"I had written most of the album and I was just trying to think of what the through line is, what the story of this album was going to be. And I had a lot of very happy, fulfilling love songs about being in a healthy space. But I didn't have that beginning. How did I get there? And I think through writing this album, I realized you can't really feel true love without feeling some sort of loss," she told the publication.
The album's second single, '(Isn't It) Obvious', was released in October. The song features a guitar solo from John Mayer.
"Thank you @johnmayer for being so incredibly generous with your time and genius. I don’t tell people it’s you and yet one hundred percent of the time they say, 'Is that who I think it is?”. You just know the JM cadence when you hear it and hearing it on a song of mine is an absolute gift. A dreammm (that I clearly thought would stay that way!)," she wrote in a post on October 22.
Cara co-wrote the song with the "immensely talented and lovely" Austrian producer Yakob.
"It's one of the first songs we ever made together and I had the most fun throughout the whole process. your ear & taste helps make things so special. legend!" she said about the producer.
'Love & Hyperbole', which is Cara's fourth studio album, will debut on February 14.
