Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ makes history

Taylor Swift's new album continues to reign supreme on the charts. 

According to a report by Billboard, the album spent a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, dated 11 May. 

It earned 439,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending May 2, reports Luminate. 

In the first week of release, the album racked up a historical 2.61-million units. 

The new Swift album achieved the best second week units for any album since 2015. 

It beat Adele's '25' album which achieved 1.162-million units in its second week of release nine years ago.

Taylor's album reached a billion streams on Spotify a day after its release on Friday, 19 April. 

It is Swift's 11th studio album and has 31 songs. 

It claimed a top 14 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, which was led by ‘Fortnight’ with Post Malone.
