The Weeknd makes history on Spotify

The singer has been announced as the artist with the most songs to reach one-billion streams on the streaming platform.

Congratulations to The Weeknd who has just made history on Spotify. 

The singer has been announced as the artist with the most songs to reach one-billion streams on the streaming platform. 

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, 24 September, Spotify announced that the singer's 'After Hours'  has also reached a billion streams. 

It went on to state that this brings the total numbers of The Weeknd's songs to eighteen, making him the artist with the most tracks to hit a billion streams in the #BillionsClub.

The Weeknd released 'After Hours' as his fourth studio album. It was released on March 20 in 2020.

The album has 14 songs. 

His latest single, 'Dancing in the Flames', which was released this month, debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated Sept. 28. It also earned the star his 29th top 20 hit. 

Last month, The Weeknd announced that he is finally ready to release the last instalment of his 'After Hours/Dawn FM' trilogy. 

On September 7, he released the album cover.

Over the weekend, he has been teasing some of the songs from the upcoming album. 

According to Billboard, 'Dancing in the Flames' is lead single from The Weeknd’s forthcoming LP, 'Hurry Up Tomorrow'. 

He shared the album cover which has a parental advisory warning for explicit content. 

The Weeknd has not yet revealed the release date of the new offering.
