Top 10 Coldplay songs

After his incredible performance at the Super Bowl, our love for Coldplay has been rekindled. Despite the turmoil of his divorce, Chris Martin has done a good job of keeping the music in the spotlight, and so we’ve decided to count down our Top 10 Coldplay songs.

2. Speed Of Sound
Fact: Speed of Sound was nominated for two awards at the 48th Grammy awards
3. Clocks
Fact: Clocks won the Grammy for 2003 Record Of The Year, beating out "Hey Ya" by Outkast and "Crazy In Love" by Beyoncé.
4. The Scientist
Fact: Chris Martin, when asked about the meaning behind the song, said "That's just about girls. It's weird that whatever else is on your mind, whether it's the downfall of global economics or terrible environmental troubles, the thing that always gets you most is when you fancy someone.”
5. Fix You
Fact: Chris Martin wrote this song for his then wife Gwyneth Paltrow after her father died. Her mother says she cries every time she hears it.
6. Viva La Vida
Fact: This reached #1 on the Hot 100, Hot Digital Songs, Adult Top 40 Airplay, Triple A Airplay, Modern Rock Airplay and Adult Contemporary charts. It was the first song to reach the top position on all six tallies. It also won Song of the Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
7. Paradise
Fact: The video is littered with scenes from South Africa, including the airport, Woodstock in Cape Town, their FNB stadium show in Joburg, as well as Nelson Mandela bridge, areas of Braamfontein, and many scenes shot in the Klein Karoo.
8. In My Place
Fact: This was a song that the band had written while recording their first studio album, Parachutes, but decided not to include it. It wasn’t even going to be included on the second studio album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, but after hearing it played on guitar Chris Martin changed his mind and decided to include it.
9. Sky Full Of Stars
Fact: Swedish artisit Avicii plays piano on this track, taking the place that Chris Martin usually occupies. Avicii also co-produced the track.

Chris Martin says this song is an homage to Johnny Cash, who he calls ‘the greatest’.
